Baden Borough Fire Department Building Roof Replacement Project

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

 

The Borough of Baden, Beaver County, Pennsylvania will accept sealed bids at the Office of the Borough Secretary, 149 State Street, Baden, Pennsylvania, 15005 until 2:00 P.M., on September 10, 2021 for the Baden Borough Fire Department Building Roof Replacement Project at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.  

This project consists of a Base Bid involving the replacement of the existing roof system for the Baden Borough Fire Department Building.

Invitation, preparation, submittal, bidding requirements, all materials furnished and all work shall conform to specifications in the contract documents and plans.

Bidding documents, technical specifications and contract drawings shall be available only via download commencing August 23, 2021 from the Widmer Engineering Inc. website at: www.widmerengineering.com under “Bids”.  All questions concerning this solicitation must be sent via email to BadenRoof@widmerengineering.com no later than (5) five days prior to the due date.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, bank check, money order or bidder surety bond in the amount specified in instructions to bidders as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into and its performance properly secured.

The minimum wage rates for each craft or classification of all workmen needed to perform this contract during the anticipated term hereof shall be governed by the Pennsylvania State Prevailing Wage Rates.

The Borough of Baden reserves the right to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids, and to award the contract to the best interest of the Borough.

Questions and Answers


Question 1. With the current status of materials availability, there is a high probability that roofing insulation and fasteners will not be available until April 2022 as an anticipated start date. Will this be acceptable?

Answer 1: Several manufacturers were contacted prior to this advertisement and no issues were noted about material availability.


Question 2. It appears that the existing insulation is to be adhered with adhesive. Has a manufacturer approved that for this project?
Answer 2: The existing 4” insulation is to remain in place. The 1” insulation is to be full adhered to the existing substrate.
