Mortimer Excavating Inc. is currently installing a new water main and associated service lines in several streets throughout Monaca, PA. The streets affected by this work include Bechtel Street, Speyer Avenue, Front Street, and Indiana Avenue.
The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 4,215 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe on Bechtel Street and Indiana Avenue, as well as approximately 2,505 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe on Speyer Street and Front Street. Service line replacements will also be performed, specifically upgrading lead and galvanized lines to ¾-inch HDPE tubing.
In addition to street side service line replacements, lead or galvanized pipes encountered on the customer side of the curb stop are also being replaced at no cost to the property owner. This service line work is limited to the water main replacement project area and is one-time only. Afte the project, the new service lines will be owned and maintained by the customer.
This project will significantly benefit the Monaca community by modernizing aging water infrastructure, providing cleaner and safer drinking water, and reducing the likelihood of future water line breaks in these areas.
