Mortimer Excavating Inc. has successfully completed a water main replacement project in Monaca, PA, which included the installation of new waterlines and the replacement of associated service lines along Bechtel Street, Speyer Avenue, Front Street, and Indiana Avenue.
As part of the project, crews installed 4,237 feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main on Bechtel Street and Indiana Avenue, along with 2,008 feet of 6-inch ductile iron water main on Speyer Avenue and Front Street. In addition, service connections to 193 residential and commercial properties were replaced using ¾-inch and 2-inch HDPE tubing.
The project also addressed customer-side service lines when lead or galvanized piping was discovered beyond the curb stop. Those lines were replaced at no cost to property owners during construction.
This project will significantly benefit the Monaca community by modernizing aging water infrastructure, providing cleaner and safer drinking water, and reducing the likelihood of future water line breaks in these areas.
